Hi, WHECES Families! My name is Gillian Brown, and I’m a mother to Iris (Kindergarten) and August (2nd Grade) as well as a documentary tv director and producer. My family and I are deeply grateful for the friends, neighbors, and community we have found here in Woodland Hills, and I’m excited to give back to this place we love. I’ll bring my practical experience from tv production to this position, from creative ideation to managing teams, projects and budgets, to setting and achieving milestones. After the profoundly challenging year we all faced together, I look forward to bringing my energy and enthusiasm to our PATT board and to our school.
Hello WHECES families! My name is Amy Carter and I have a 3rd grader, Liam, and a kindergartner, Grace. I have been part of the Woodland Hills Elementary community since my brother attended the school 15 years ago. For the last year, I have served on the board as the Secretary, taking notes at meetings, managing attendance, and creating forms and spreadsheets for the team. I have enjoyed helping the board make decisions about fundraising and community-building activities, as well as offering my unique experience as a teacher and a parent. I hope to build our committees and increase parent participation in all of the wonderful activities we all missed last year and make wonderful memories along the way!
Kim Sumner - Hello Parents! My name is Kimberley Sumner. I’m a full-time teaching professor at USC (but UCLA grad!). Both of my daughters have attended WHECES. Arielle is now at Hale STEAM Magnet and Gabriella will be in 3rd grade next year. I have been involved at WHECES for 6 years now. This past year I was PATT Co-Vice President and I am happy to continue volunteering in this capacity during the next year. Over the years I have regularly volunteered as a room parent, chaired the BoxTops for Education committee, and helped out on various school events including the Kinder Welcome and Welcome Back Picnics, Fall Festival, and Teacher Appreciation to name a few. I have seen how vital PATT is to the health of our school and want to make a difference. This coming year I’d like to continue working toward building strong community ties with all our families.
I have been a teacher at WHECES for almost 20 years and currently have a kindergartner in Room 11. Now that I am a member of the parent community, I would like to continue supporting this incredible school in that role. Because I am able to wear both the teacher and parent hats, I have a unique perspective on our school community. I am looking forward to working with the PATT team and being one of the co-V.P.s.
Hello, I am a new incoming parent of three, my oldest started kindergarten this school year in Mrs. Martin’s class which she has absolutely enjoyed. I work in Real Estate as a Controller and have been in accounting/finance for over ten years. I can assist PATT in a Treasury role using my work experience and knowledge along with my enthusiasm for helping create a great school environment for our kids in any capacity I can. I have previously served as a Treasurer on an HOA Board for over 7 years, helping secure funding for major community improvements and beautification. I am excited to be part of the team and help our school community.
I have been a parent at WHES for the past 8 years. My younger son, Shaya, is in 4th grade now. My older son, Pasha, just finished 7 grade at Medea Creek Middle School in Oak Park. Professionally, I have been a practicing CPA and Attorney for more than 20 years. I currently own my own practice. I have had the pleasure of being the PATT Co-Treasurer for the past 7 years. The school year 2021-22 will be my last year at WHES. I would like to use my last year on the PATT Board to provide a transition for the future Board members.
Hello, my name is Cherin Banna, I am a parent of two boys, one currently at WHECES. I love giving back to our school community and making a difference where possible. I am excited to join the board in the secretary position. It goes hand in hand with my current technology position. Looking forward to a more normal year ahead and happy to be a part of an amazing group of parents.
